Ivy’s Bookshop in Oak Bay carries a good selection of Wrendale cards and gifts. I’m sure they could be induced to do more!

The principle issue for most of our customers will be sourcing their favourite candles. That’s is a bit more of a challenge.

They ship direct to retail customers, but are also well distributed throughout BC. You will find small stands of their candles in Thrifty Foods as well as in many local gift stores. 

They were just a little “mom and pop” operation when we started buying from them almost 20 years ago, and have become one of the best suppliers of high quality bees wax candles in Western Canada. 

Over the 40 years the store was in business we have introduced a number of Canadian vendors to our Danish and Swedish suppliers. As a result, some candle lines are now more widely available. The Bungalow in Estevan Village (retirement pending there, I’m told), Fan Tan Gallery in Chinatown and Davidson Chambers in Sidney all carry limited selections of the Danish tapers. Maybe they will expand their selections now that we have closed.

The “rustikal” style dinner candles we carried in 25 & 30cm lengths are available in, of all places, Home Hardware! The rack in the Fairfield Plaza store is small, but they do have some colours. 

It remains though, that the Ladybug was special when it came to candles. No one else is doing what we did for variety and colour choices. I will continue to visit stores and am planning to reach out to reps and vendors for lists of who is carrying what.
